The challenges facing business and society rarely fit within one discipline. MGRI brings management into dialogue with the social sciences and humanities, creating space to examine the wider forces that shape organisations and human activity.
International relations theory
Examine the ideas that explain relationships between states, institutions and societies. Bringing history, politics, diplomacy, and conflict and peace studies into conversation, this area asks how different theories help us understand cooperation, tension and change in the world.
Critical studies in economic theory
Look beyond economic models to examine the assumptions behind them. By comparing different schools of thought, researchers can investigate how social relationships, institutions and business activity shape the creation of wealth—and how we explain economic life.
Philosophy of the social sciences
Ask how we build reliable knowledge about people and society. Research may explore what distinguishes the social sciences from the natural sciences, or how philosophy examines their foundations. Questions of evidence, reasoning, objectivity and ethics guide this inquiry.
Connected fields of inquiry
