MMI / Chartered Professional Manager
Monarch Management Institute · CPM

Turn advanced management judgement into recognised professional standing.

Chartered Professional Manager is MMI’s principal professional designation. It recognises advanced management education, applied managerial judgement, professional ethics and continued development.

MMI’s principal professional designation

Recognition built on advanced learning and applied judgement.

CPM is for managers who can demonstrate that management knowledge has become professional capability: the ability to analyse a consequential situation, exercise sound judgement and contribute responsibly in practice.

Each applicant completes the educational requirement, consulting case presentation, ethics module requirements, evidence and formal-review requirements.

The route to CPM

A professional progression grounded in practice.

01 · PREPARE

Establish your standing

Develop the required management experience and hold Professional Membership or an applicable higher MMI standing when applying.

02 · COMPLETE

Satisfy the educational route

Complete the twelve-course MMI MBA pathway or submit an external MBA for individual MMI evaluation.

03 · ALIGN

Meet the MMI practice standard

Complete the required Chartered Management Practice, professional consulting and advanced ethical decision-making preparation.

04 · DEMONSTRATE

Present an applied case

Show managerial analysis, decision-making, implementation and reflective learning through a substantial professional case.

05 · APPLY

Submit for review

Provide the application, résumé, Practice Domain evidence and fee, then complete the designated MMI review process.

Your field of professional competence

Substantiate an established Primary Practice Domain.

Your Primary Practice Domain identifies the principal field in which your education, management experience and applied work demonstrate established professional competence.

One Secondary Practice Domain may be approved where separately supported. The designation remains CPM; Practice Domains record professional focus without creating separate post-nominals.

Examples of Practice Domains

  • General and Strategic Management
  • Leadership and Organisational Management
  • Human Capital and People Management
  • Operations and Performance Management
  • Finance and Commercial Management
  • Project and Programme Management
  • Consulting, Coaching and Advisory Practice
  • Entrepreneurship and Innovation
  • AI and Digital Management
External MBA applicants

Your academic preparation is evaluated individually.

MMI reviews the award, institution, transcript, curriculum and management focus. The MBA must come from a recognised or appropriately authorised Higher Education Institution and be substantially management-focused.

An accepted external MBA may satisfy only the educational component. It does not automatically exempt an applicant from MMI practice, consulting, ethics, applied-case, charter or other institution-specific requirements.

The MMI validation principle

The Chartered Management Practice requirements ensure that CPM standing reflects MMI’s professional philosophy and standards rather than relying exclusively on an external academic award.

MMI may request transcripts, syllabi, authentication or further evidence and may accept, conditionally accept or decline the qualification for CPM purposes.

Continuing professional standing

Keep your professional judgement current.

CPM members complete the MMI courses prescribed for each two-year continuing-learning cycle. At least half of the required learning must relate materially to the member’s Primary Practice Domain.

Good standing also requires payment of the annual fee, continued adherence to the professional ethics charter, accurate Practice Domain records and completion of applicable administrative requirements. Continuing learning used for CPM standing must be completed through MMI.

CPM questions

Clear answers before you apply.

Understand the educational, applied-practice and professional-standing requirements before submitting your interest.

Must I hold CAM before applying for CPM?

No. CAM is not a prerequisite. You may apply directly for CPM when all CPM education, experience, membership, practice, ethics, evidence and review requirements are satisfied.

Can I apply with an external MBA?

Yes. MMI evaluates each external MBA individually. Acceptance may satisfy the educational component only; additional MMI learning and all institution-specific CPM requirements still apply.

What must the applied management case demonstrate?

It should demonstrate managerial analysis, decision-making, implementation, results and reflective learning, normally within the applicant’s Primary Practice Domain.

Are professional references required?

No. References are optional. An applicant may submit up to three recent references, but they cannot replace any mandatory CPM requirement.

What is the Chartered Management Practice requirement?

It is MMI’s institution-specific validation of professional management practice. It includes the applicable practice, consulting and ethical decision-making requirements established for CPM applicants.

How do I maintain CPM standing?

Keep the annual standing current, remain aligned with the professional ethics charter and complete the prescribed MMI continuing-learning courses during each two-year cycle, with at least half related to the Primary Practice Domain.
