About This Course

Plenty of managers can define transformational leadership. Far fewer can look at a specific team and design the behaviors that will actually lift its performance

Most management runs on a fair exchange: set targets, reward delivery, step in when something slips. It works — and it stops at the level the deal asks for. Effort settles, initiative is scarce, and it is easy to conclude that this is simply what people are willing to give.

The gap is in the doing. ‘Vision’, ‘inspiration’ and ‘developing people’ are among the most repeated words in leadership and among the most loosely applied. In practice they become a poster rather than a habit: a mission statement no one lives, a pep talk with no means behind it, a plan to ‘develop the team’ that could never be checked. Work in that form changes nothing on Monday.

This course closes that gap by making you produce the artifact. Each lesson explains one behavior and shows it worked through on a running case — Elena Marsh turning around a flat, transactional claims division at Northwind Insurance — then hands the work to you on your own team and goal, with a model to check yourself against and a rubric that names what a strong plan contains. By the close you hold a transformational leadership plan: a kept transactional base, a concrete move for each of the four behaviors sequenced to your situation, and an objective measure of the performance you are raising.

Designed for application

Why this course is different

Most leadership courses tell you to be visionary. This one shows you the four behaviors that actually move performance — and how to build them on a base that still works

01

One team, one goal, worked all the way through

You pick one real team and one specific performance goal in the first lesson, and every lesson applies to them. The output is not a certificate of attendance but a finished transformational leadership plan for a team you are actually leading — something you can act on the following Monday.

02

Four behaviors, on a base — not a slogan

‘Be inspiring’ is not a skill. Here every lesson works a specific behavior — a vision you model, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, individual consideration — on a running case and then on your own team, and always on top of a working transactional base rather than instead of it. The quality rubric your plan is measured against is published in the lessons, so the standard is visible from the start.

03

Taught with its evidence — the strong and the contested

Transformational leadership is one of the most studied ideas in management. The course teaches what the meta-analyses actually found — where the support is strong and where it is not — and the serious critiques alongside them, so you learn to use the model as a supported repertoire rather than a formula that guarantees a result. Knowing where a tool stops is part of using it competently.

Learning objectives

  • Distinguish transactional from transformational leadership, and locate both on the full range of leadership behavior.
  • Articulate a compelling vision and back it with personal example — idealized influence — so a team identifies with a shared purpose.
  • Motivate through meaning and high, resourced expectations, and recognize when inspiration has outrun the means to deliver it.
  • Stimulate better performance by challenging assumptions and inviting the team’s own solutions, on the psychological safety the behavior needs.
  • Develop each person through individual consideration — coaching and matched opportunity — while keeping it fair rather than favoritism.
  • Build a transformational leadership plan for a real team and goal: a kept transactional base, a move for each behavior, and an objective measure of the performance you are raising.

Modules at a glance

Module 01From Transactional To Transformational Leadership; Idealized InfluenceDuration = 1 Week

You can locate leadership behavior on the full range, and explain why contingent reward is the floor the transformational behaviors build on rather than a fault to remove You can pair a shared vision with personal example, explain how identification draws effort the transaction never bought, and apply the test that keeps it authentic rather than pseudo-transformational You can raise what a team expects of itself by giving the work meaning, and supply the means that turn a high expectation into effort rather than strain

Principal themes

  • From Transactional to Transformational Leadership
  • Idealized Influence
  • Inspirational Motivation
  • Intellectual Stimulation
  • Individualized Consideration
  • Leading the Whole Range to Raise Performance

Intended outcomes
