Fellowship recognises experienced Chartered Professional Managers whose professional practice is strengthened by scholarship, ethical leadership and a sustained contribution to their chosen field of management.
It is both a senior professional distinction and a commitment to stewardship. Fellows remain active in the intellectual, professional and institutional life of MMI through continuing learning, scholarship, professional engagement and service.
What you need to apply.
Hold Chartered Professional Manager standing for at least two years and remain in good standing.
Provide evidence of at least five years of managerial experience.
Maintain an approved Primary Practice Domain and demonstrate sustained professional and scholarly contribution within it.
Qualify through the MMI Doctor of Professional Studies route or the professional or academic article route.
Present three business or consulting cases. At least two must materially relate to the Primary Practice Domain.
Submit the Fellow application, current professional résumé and three recent professional references prepared specifically for MMI Fellowship.
Complete the Fellow Ethics Course and reaffirm the professional ethics charter.
Pay the non-refundable €250 application fee and receive approval following committee evaluation.

Maintain CPM standing
Complete at least two years as a Chartered Professional Manager in good standing and build a sustained record of responsible professional practice.
Choose a scholarship route
Complete the MMI Doctor of Professional Studies route or prepare a qualifying portfolio of professional or academic articles.
Present three applied cases
Show advanced analysis, implementation, results and reflective judgement through meaningful business or consulting work.
Document your contribution
Submit your résumé, Practice Domain evidence, scholarship portfolio and three Fellowship-specific professional references.

After approval, continue learning, scholarship, professional engagement and service as a Fellow in good standing.
Demonstrate scholarship at the Fellow standard.
Doctor of Professional Studies route. Complete the MMI Doctor of Professional Studies programme designed for the Fellowship pathway and satisfy the common Fellowship requirements, including the presentation of three business or consulting cases.
Professional or academic article route. Present a portfolio containing at least three qualifying articles. Each candidate on this route produces at least one new article for MMI with appropriate MMI affiliation; where three qualifying published articles already exist, the new MMI article is an additional fourth article.

- Articles must demonstrate scholarship at the Fellow standard.
- Published or formally accepted work remains subject to MMI quality approval.
- At least one new article must be produced for MMI.
- The candidate also presents three applied professional cases.
Present three substantial professional cases.
The cases may be presented together in one assessment session. They should demonstrate meaningful managerial, consulting, entrepreneurial or organisational work and enable the committee to assess analysis, implementation, results and reflective learning.
At least two cases must materially relate to the applicant’s Primary Practice Domain, showing both depth of professional focus and mature judgement in practice.

Keep scholarship, engagement and service active.
Fellows complete 10 MMI-Credits during each two-year continuing-learning cycle, with at least 5 credits materially related to the Primary Practice Domain.
Each Fellow also produces at least one substantive MMI-approved scholarly or professional article during each rolling three-year period. During each two-year cycle, a Fellow participates in at least one relevant external professional, academic, industry or public-policy event and completes at least one qualifying MMI service or ambassadorship activity.
Good standing also requires payment of the annual fee, continued adherence to the ethics charter, accurate Practice Domain records and satisfaction of applicable administrative requirements.

Must I hold CPM before applying?
Yes. A Fellow applicant must have held Chartered Professional Manager standing for at least two years and remain in good standing.
How much management experience is required?

What are the two scholarship routes?
You may qualify through the MMI Doctor of Professional Studies route or through a qualifying portfolio of professional or academic articles, including at least one new article produced for MMI.
How many cases and references are required?
Three professional cases and three recent professional references are required. At least two cases must materially relate to the Primary Practice Domain.
What happens after Fellowship is awarded?
Fellows maintain continuing learning, scholarship, professional engagement, ethics and MMI service. As members of the College of Fellows, they contribute to the Institute’s standards, mentorship, curriculum, scholarship and professional influence.
Do I retain the CPM designation?
Yes. A Fellow continues to hold and may use the CPM designation while maintaining the requirements of good standing for both the chartered designation and Fellowship.
