Anastasiia Lutsenko Assumes Junior Research Fellow Position At Max Planck Institute For Innovation & Competition
Monarch Business School Switzerland is happy to announce that PhD Candidate Ms. Anastasiia Lutsenko has assumed the position of Junior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation & Competition.
Her research focus is on innovation system resilience with emphasis on targetting the National Academy of Science of Ukraine. The research compliments her PhD study focus.
The Research
A scientific environment detached from the collectivist tradition is one of the main instruments in targeting long-term pro-European economic development horizons. (e.g., Fukuyama, 2015; Rose and Krausmann, 2013) In representing the scientific environment in Ukraine, there is no such extensive system delivering high-calibre research at a state level as the National Academy of Science. However, research shows that the state still monopolizes the NASU system and its intellectual power (e.g., legal aspects, research projects orders, financing) has limited possibilities to act “outside the box.” (Antoniuk et al., 2020, Lutsenko, 2020, Kitzmann et al., 2022) The war further worsens the situation. Nevertheless, it remains a significant source of fundamental science and deep-tech start-ups in Ukraine and globally; and, has a significant potential for reforming into a leading innovation system (e.g. Berlin-Adlershof).
The current research shows that its resilience remains without any significant attention. Apart from a few works (e.g. McManus, 2008; Tierney, 1997 with the focus on organizational resilience), the knowledge in system resilience is rather sporadic when it comes to innovation system resilience. Furthermore, the knowledge of innovation system resilience is limited, especially in the case of the regional innovation systems, such as Academ.City, that is operating during the war.
The Researcher
Ms. Anastasiia Lutsenko is a PhD in Innovation Candidate at Monarch Business School Switzerland. She holds a Masters in Management with Honors (in 2011) and a Bachelor in Management with Honors (in 2009) from the National Technical University of Ukraine “Kiev Polytechnic Institute” (Ukraine). She also holds a M.Phil. in Business Research from Monarch Business School Switzerland. She is presently a Visiting Researcher at Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition.
