Professor Focus: Dr. Ravinder Rena

Dr. Ravinder Rena holds the position of Adjunct Professor of Economics at Monarch Business School Switzerland. He is a distinguished scholar in economics, writer, editor, adviser and public intellectual with over 30 years of teaching and research experience in Asia-Pacific, Africa, and European continents. Dr. Rena holds a Ph.D., M.Phil. and M.A. in Economics from Osmania University in Hyderabad India. He also holds a B.A. and LL.B. from Kakatiya University in India as well as a B.Ed. from Annamalai University in India.

Dr. Rena is currently Professor of Economics and Internationalization Project Leader at the North-West University in South Africa. He also serves as the Honorary Country Director for South Africa for the International Internship University. Previously, he has held positions as Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics at the University of the Western Cape in South Africa. He also served as Professor and Coordinator within the Joint African Master’s Programme at Harold Pupkewitz Graduate School of Business at the Namibia University of Science and Technology. He has also worked as the Head of Economics in the Department of Business Studies at the Papua New Guinea University of Technology in Papua, New Guinea.

He has written 10 books and published more than 130 articles in reputed National and International peer-reviewed Journals and 35 book chapters. He has also published more than 150 articles in newspapers and magazines. He is the founding Editor-In-Chief of the International Journal of Education Economics and Development (IJEED) and Associate Editor of the African Journal of Science, Technology, Innovation and Development (AJSTID). He has been a Keynote Speaker and Resource person for more than 100 national and international conferences in Europe, America, Africa, and Asian continents. He has widely written in the areas of Economics of Education, Development Economics and Inclusive growth, Globalization and Higher Education, Microfinance, Rural Entrepreneurship, WTO, Clean technology and Sustainable development, FDI and development aid in Africa. He has supervised over 60 Ph.Ds, M.Phil. and Master theses.
