The Doctor of Management is an executive doctorate for senior managers, executives and organisational leaders with a substantial record of professional practice—typically 20 or more years of experience.

Dr. Henderson brings substantial commercial real estate and consulting experience to his academic work, connecting the realities of executive responsibility with reflection on management, ethics and professional contribution.
Executive and managerial experience
Before his academic leadership at Monarch, Dr. Henderson held Vice-President and senior managerial positions with Bentall Capital, Brookfield Properties, Kolter Properties, KPMG Canada LLP and Reichmann International.
At KPMG, he served as Vice-President within the Finance, Insurance and Real Estate (FIRE) consulting practice. His professional work included the development and management of real estate projects surpassing $6 billion in Canada and the United States.
Bringing practice into scholarly dialogue
With Monarch since its inception in 2010, Dr. Henderson combines this managerial background with academic experience that includes an affiliate professorship at Grenoble Graduate School of Business and lecturing in real estate finance at McGill University’s Faculty of Management.
His experience provides a practical foundation for dialogue with established leaders as they examine significant decisions, interpret professional turning points and articulate the management lessons of their careers.

This doctoral program may be completed fully online, including the doctoral defence. No relocation is required. Candidates may select an in-person doctoral defence when offered by Monarch. Asynchronous study and individual mentorship support sustained work alongside executive responsibilities. Optional workshops in Switzerland offer opportunities for exchange. Discuss the appropriate study plan, commitment and progression with Admissions; completion depends on meeting the academic requirements.

Review considers your professional portfolio, leadership record and capacity for reflective doctoral work. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is normally expected; alternative educational backgrounds are considered individually. Admission is subject to academic review.
The corresponding master’s milestone.
The programme provides for the Master of Management as the corresponding Master-in-Passing award on successful doctoral completion, subject to applicable award requirements. The corresponding Master-in-Exit offers a separate pathway, with appropriate master’s-level work and academic approval required for the award.
