Monarch Business School Switzerland was formed in response to the specific need for a high quality online Swiss graduate management institute to address the needs of internationally located working professionals who have the desire to continue higher academic training while remaining in the workforce. The school was formed in the Canton of Zug with venues for learning in Switzerland and Spain. We invite you to become familiar with Monarch by reviewing the milestone events in our history.

Milestone Events:

  • 2010: Monarch Business School legally formed in Switzerland as a private business school.
  • 2010: Dr. Madarasz appointed as Chief Academic Officer.
  • 2010: Dr. Lee Dahringer appointed as Dean of the Faculty.
  • 2010: Dr. Henderson appointed as Dean of Studies.
  • 2010: The Academic Council is formed.
  • 2010: Initial Faculty members are appointed.
  • 2010: Initial students are admitted to the Doctor of Philosophy degree.
  • 2010: Monarch reaches 25 Doctoral students by year end.
  • 2011: Monarch locates the initial campus on the Lussiweg in Zug, Switzerland.
  • 2011: Monarch Joins ACBSP: The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs, USA.
  • 2011: DBA and Doctor of Management programs are introduced.
  • 2011: Monarch reaches 60 Doctoral student by year end.
  • 2011: Monarch Joins ECBE; The European Council for Business Education.
  • 2012: The Doctoral Symposium is held in Zug, Switzerland in September.
  • 2012: Monarch reaches 90 Doctoral students by year end.
  • 2012: Monarch Joins CEEMAN; The Central and Eastern European Management Association.
  • 2013: The Doctor of Applied Management program is introduced.
  • 2013: The Doctor of Applied Leadership program is introduced.
  • 2013:Monarch Joins ACUNS-The Academic Council Of The United Nations System.
  • 2013: The International Doctoral Symposium is held in Dubai, UAE in May.
  • 2013: The Doctoral Symposium is held in Zug, Switzerland in September.
  • 2013: The first full-time D.Phil. candidates graduate.
  • 2013: Dr. Dahringer retires as Dean of the Faculty in September and continues as Professor Emeritus.
  • 2013: Dr. Henderson assumes the post of Dean of the Faculty in September.
  • 2013: Academic collaboration with the University of Pretoria, South Africa announced.
  • 2013: Academic Collaboration with the Australian School of Applied Management announced.
  • 2013: Monarch reaches 130 doctoral students from 35 countries by year end.
  • 2014: Academic Collaboration with Makerere University Business School announced.
  • 2014: The Doctoral Symposium is held at the Rapperswil Castle on Lake Zurich in May.
  • 2014: Academic Collaboration with the Riga International School of Economics and Business announced.
  • 2015: Doctoral Symposium held in Rapperswil Switzerland in May.
  • 2015: Monarch opens its first Doctoral workshop held in Malaga, Spain in October.
  • 2015: Monarch terminates its membership with ECBE.
  • 2016: Dr. Madarasz retires as Head of the Academic Council at the end of his 4 year term in January.
  • 2016: Doctoral Workshop held in April in Malaga, Spain.
  • 2016: Monarch Receives Quality Assurance status from The Swiss Federation of Private Business Schools.
  • 2016: Monarch ranked one of the Top 10 International Distance Doctoral Programs (link)
  • 2017: Visiting Student Researcher Trainee program with York University, Canada initiated.
  • 2017: Doctoral Workshop held in March in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
  • 2017: Monarch opens South African office in Pretoria.
  • 2017: Dr. Volschenk assumes role as Associate Dean of the Faculty.
  • 2017: Monarch achieves Triple ISO certification with ISO9001:2015, ISO14001:2015 and OHSAS18001:2007.
  • 2017: Doctoral workshop held in Rapperswil, Switzerland in October.
  • 2017: Monarch receives EFMD membership.
  • 2018: Dr. David Bevan assumes the position of Dean of the Faculty effective January 1st and appointed to the Academic Council.
  • 2018: Prof. Anastasiia Lutsenko appointed to the Academic Council effective January 1st.
