An Unique Approach To Management Scholarship

The Dual Professional PhD / Doctor of Business Administration program represents an unique approach to management scholarship. It is specifically formulated to address the requirement of achieving the highest level of integration between the theoretical aspects of a PhD program and the applied nature of the DBA program. The program is meant for top consultants, practicing managers or academics who wish to ensure a well-rounded and holistic understanding of the nexus of management theory and practice. As an integrated program emphasis is placed on the ability of the Candidate to merge and synthesize theory with real world application to push the scholarship in both an academic and applied focus.

Theory & Praxis Integration

The Dual Degree program is designed around the completion of core competencies of the DBA program along with the completion of the PhD dissertation. The merger of the two perspectives develops the Candidate as a more integrated management specialist able to move comfortably between both the applied and theoretical aspects of management science. Practically, this means that the dissertation work must address the requirement for original contribution on the theoretical aspects along with practical solutions geared towards management practitioners for the issue at hand.

The completion of the PhD dissertation also includes the additional requirement, beyond that of theoretical scholarship, to demonstrate the integration to a real world managerial issues where the theoretical domain synthesizes with the practical aspects of management practice.

The Dual PhD / DBA Combined program merges both theoretical aspects of the PhD along with the practical orientation of the DBA program to produce a more holistic approach to management scholarship. As such the program is the flagship program at Monarch. The program requires in-depth research on the scholarship within the chosen domain along with an exploration of actionable items addressing a real world managerial problem. The skill of the Candidate is brought to the fore by thoroughly exploring both these aspects and creating a fluid and seamless integration between the two. Graduates of the program are comfortable both within the academic and professional domains and can easily move between them demonstrating their skill with regards to theory and implementation. This creates higher personal and professional ability and worth which translates to greater opportunity within professional and academic careers.

Participant progress is assessed through the submission of various written assignments per module. The program concludes with the completion of a doctoral dissertation. There are no exams within the program.

Master-In-Passing Degree (MPHIL)

At the successful completion of the program the candidate will also be issued the Master of Philosophy in Business Research degree.

The program has a rolling admission and be started at any time.
Standard Duration is 3 Years. Candidates may take up to 6 years to complete the program.
The program is completed online using the Monarch Learning Management System. During the program the Candidate must attend at least one workshop on sight at the school in order to design the research. The dissertation/manuscript must be defended at the school at the end of the program.
Program Open To

  • Graduates from accredited Bachelor & Master programs with +5 Years Management Experience;
  • Candidates with a Professional designation and +5 years managerial experience may be admitted to the program on the discretion of the Dean.


Tuition is levied on a quarterly basis in advance. All candidates may terminate a program upon 3 months written notice to the administration.
