Doctoral Student Benjamin Rutimirwa To Present At ITU International Conference In Cairo

It is with pleasure that we announce that Doctoral student Benjamin Rutimirwa will present a paper at the ITU International Conference held in Cairo on February 5th, 2013. The paper is entitled; “Telecommunication Services and Economic Growth: Evidence from Rwanda”. Congratulations to Mr. Rutimirwa for his achievement and we wish him the best in his presentation.

Paper Abstract:

Telecom has been considered as one of the factors that has affected productivity growth in the literature on economic growth. This study provides empirical evidence on Rwanda�s Telecommunication industry development and contribution to the economic growth from 2005 to 2012. The telecom industry is becoming the most dynamic sector in Rwanda�s economy. The impact of ICT on GDP for the period 2000 to 2020 is predicted. And result indicated that the total gross revenue of the Rwandan telecom services industry was Rwf 31 billion in the third quarter of the year 2012 from Rwf 26 billion in the second quarter of the same year and impact of telecom on GDP was increased by 0.1% from 2.6% in Q3 of 2011 to 2.7% of Q3 2012.
