This course is designed to prepare graduate students with the core knowledge and skills for designing mixed-methods research in the context of applied management. Students gain an understanding of the types of mixed-methods designs and how to select the most appropriate approach for their research projects. The course emphasizes integrating quantitative and qualitative elements into mixed-methods research methodology; practice in data analysis; and integration of qualitative and quantitative data within a research write-up. Students will demonstrate the understanding of mixed-methods approach by developing a truly mixed-methods research plan that appropriately incorporates qualitative and quantitative elements. Through the use of readings, assignments, and a research project, students will build upon their existing skills and knowledge and develop the critical competency in choosing and applying appropriate mixed-methods research approach and tools upon which to develop transferable skills and capabilities for managing applied research projects through professional practice.

Dr. Hassan Qudrat-Ullah holds the position of Adjunct Professor of Management Studies at UGSM-Monarch Business School Switzerland. He holds a Ph.D. in Management from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and an M.Phil. in System Dynamics from the University of Bergen in Norway. He also holds a M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from B.Z. University, Multan, Pakistan and a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of the Punjab, Pakistan. Dr. Qudrat-Ullah completed his post-doctoral training at Carnegie-Mellon University, USA. At present, he is a Professor of Decision Sciences at York University in Toronto, Canada. He has also held visiting or adjunct professorships at: King Fahd University Saudi Arabia, Konkuk University Korea, Walden University USA, Durham University UK, University of Liverpool UK, University of Surrey UK, the National University Singapore, University of Chicago Singapore, PAUWES, University of Tlemcen Algeria, and the University of Bergen Norway.
